Tenzo Matcha Earth Day Cloud Drink

“Experience the beauties of nature, and in doing so learn about yourself.”

- Japanese Proverb 

This simple yet beautiful proverb fits in perfectly with the Japanese philosophy of Kachou Fuugetsu (花鳥風月). Kachou Fuugetsu is an idea that centers around discovering your true self, in nature. Now, we’re not saying that you’ll find the meaning of life after a day spent on the beach, but there is something pure and reflective about being surrounded by nature. And, that is the sentiment we’d like to carry into Earth Day this year. 

You’ve heard us talk a lot about meditating and taking a few moments to pause and really live purposefully. A day spent out amongst mountains, wandering creekside, or navigating sandy beaches is a great way to slow down and live in the moment. And, we have to give credit where credit is due. Nothing feels quite so rejuvenating as the welcoming embrace of Mother Nature. This Earth Day we’re saluting her with something that not only mimics her beauty, but also gives praise to one of her most beautiful creations, Camellia sinensis, the mother of both matcha and green tea. We may be a little biased about matcha but there is no denying that this drink is both beautiful and delicious. 

So, sit down with this fluffy, beautiful mixture of earth and sky and pay a little tribute to Mother Nature. 

Tenzo Matcha Earth Day Cloud Drink

Ingredients:

1 ½ teaspoon Tenzo matcha

2 ounces warm water

1 teaspoon Sweetener of choice (use more or less to your liking)

2 tablespoons of Butterfly Pea Tea

1 cup of milk of choice

Directions:

Whisk 1 1/2 teaspoons matcha powder with warm water.

Add sweetener of choice (I used condensed milk) and whisk again.

Brew butterfly pea tea

To assemble, add matcha, ice, frothy milk(leave some for the top), pour butterfly pea tea through the froth.

* top with foam “clouds”— frothy 1/2 cup of milk.
