Creamy Matcha Oatmeal

It's creamy. It's comforting. It's healthy and delicious. Matcha oatmeal is the perfect way to fuel up for the day. Treat yourself to a deluxe and deceptively simple morning meal that cuts the cravings and leaves you ready to take on the day.  With the immune-boosting, energy supplying benefits of matcha and the hearty fiber of oats, you're sure to start things off on the right foot.   

And, health benefits aside, this breakfast is absolutely delicious. Matcha's slightly nutty taste pairs exquisitely well with cashew milk, and the touch of sweetness from the maple syrup is exactly what this dish needs. Top it with fresh fruit and nuts for supplemental sweetness and added flavors, but even by itself, this matcha breakfast is undeniably delicious. Indulge your taste buds, satisfy a sweet tooth, and fuel your body with nutritious goodness. 

Pro tip: For a summertime fine version of this recipe, try the overnight oats version! Simply combine everything in a sealable container and leave it in your fridge overnight. Perfect for a quick, healthy breakfast, on-the-go! 

 If you're not matcha'd out (how could you be, though?) go for a double dose of matcha's nutrient-dense goodness and whip yourself up a  matcha latte.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Quick Cook Steel-Cut Oats

  • ½ cup Cashew Milk (or milk of choice)

  • ½ cup Filtered Water

  • 1 tsp tenzo matcha powder

  • ½ tsp Maple Syrup (or sweetener of choice)

  • For Garnish: ½ Banana, and Dried fruits, Nuts and Seeds of choice

Directions

  1. Pour water and cashew milk into a saucepan and heat on high until just boiling. Spoon out about 2 oz of the hot liquid into a bowl and set it aside to cool for 1 minute. 

  2. Add oats to the saucepan, and turn heat to low.

  3. Using the bowl you set aside earlier, whisk together the matcha powder and hot liquid to make a matcha concentrate. Then gently stir the matcha concentrate as well as sweetener (if desired) into the oats. 

  4. Cover and cook on low for about 5 -7 minutes (depending on how thick and chewy you like your oatmeal), stirring occasionally.

  5. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for two minutes. Spoon into bowls and top with your favorite fruit, nuts and seeds ( we used pepitas, bananas and dried cranberries). Enjoy!

And there you have it, a healthy breakfast that's quick and easy to make. Of course, a classic cup of matcha is near and dear to us, but there's something to be said about streamlining your morning routine. This dish is matcha and a meal all in one, perfect for anyone on-the-go.
