For many of us, the holidays would be incomplete without eggnog. If you grew up in an eggnog family, December does not feel real until you've had a good cup the stuff. It has to be creamy and sweet, it has to be fresh, and it has to be in a big bowl to share.

Matcha Eggnog
Ingredients

6 eggs

½ cup sugar

2 cups milk

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 pinch nutmeg

1 ½ cups dark rum or other spirits if desired

2 cups heavy cream

1 teaspoon organic matcha powder
Directions

Combine eggs milk and sugar in the top of a double boiler and cook slowly over low heat until a thick smooth custard forms. The mixture should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Chill custard for 1 hour

Sift matcha powder into 1/3 of the heavy cream and whisk until fully combined and there are no more lumps. Then, add the rest of the heavy cream, stirring as you go.

Combine the matcha heavy cream mixture with the chilled custard in a large serving bowl. Stir in liqueur if desired.

Serve with freshly grated nutmeg, and top with a bit of Tenzo Matcha powder for garnish. Enjoy!
